Why good traffic alone is not enough
Many businesses spend money on ads and SEO to get more people to their website. If the site then fails to convince those people, much of that investment is wasted. An unclear offer, a long form or a clumsy checkout is often all it takes.
Can visitors tell within seconds what you offer and who it is for?
Does the page give enough reasons to share data or money with you?
Is the next step clear, short and free of needless hurdles?
My conversion optimization services
I look at your website through your customers' eyes and back it up with data. These are the areas I optimize.
User journey analysis
Which pages do visitors land on, and where do they leave? I analyze your analytics data and find the points where most prospects drop off.
Landing pages
A landing page has to deliver what the ad or search result promised. I review headline, offer, structure and call to action and give you suggestions you can put to work right away.
Forms and inquiries
Every required field is a hurdle. I cut forms down to what is needed, improve labels and error messages, and make sure submitting is easy on a smartphone too.
Product pages and checkout
In an online store, good images, clear prices including shipping, understandable delivery times and a direct checkout all count. I walk through the purchase step by step and point out what slows it down.
How I approach optimization
No gut feeling, but a fixed five-step process. Every change has a reason, and every result gets measured.
Check the tracking
Nothing can be optimized without reliable numbers. I first check whether your conversions are measured correctly and fix the conversion tracking if needed.
Analyze the data
I look at which pages get visitors but no inquiries, and where most people leave the purchase process. Split by device and source, because mobile often looks quite different from desktop.
Walk through the pages
I go through the key paths myself as if I were a new customer. What is unclear? What information is missing? Where do you have to search too long or type too much?
Prioritize the changes
You get a list of concrete changes, sorted by expected impact and effort. Small fixes with big leverage come first.
Implement and measure
I make the changes myself or work with your agency or developer. If traffic allows, we test variants in an A/B test. Otherwise we compare the periods before and after the change.
More levers at a glance
Beyond forms and checkout, a few points matter on almost every website.
Trust signals
Real customer reviews, trust badges, a face behind the offer and clear details on contact, returns and privacy. They belong where the decision is made.
Page speed
Slow pages lose visitors before they have read anything. I review images, scripts and server response times together with technical SEO.
Mobile experience
Buttons that are hard to tap, pop-ups that cover the content and form fields that bring up the wrong keyboard. I test on real devices.
Copy and calls to action
A clear headline, a tangible benefit and a button that says what happens next. Often a few words are enough to turn hesitation into an inquiry.
Conversion rate optimization: getting more from existing traffic
Conversion rate optimization, or CRO for short, means improving a website or online store so that more visitors become customers. Instead of buying more traffic, you make better use of the traffic you already have. I combine data analysis with more than 20 years of experience in online marketing.
Why optimize conversions before raising your ad budget?
Every visitor who arrives and leaves again has already cost money or effort. When your website convinces more of those visitors, every euro in ads and every hour in SEO works harder, without a bigger budget.
Where websites typically lose customers
The reasons are rarely dramatic. The headline describes the company instead of the benefit to the customer. The contact button only shows up after a long scroll. The form asks for details that are not needed for a first inquiry. In the store, shipping costs appear only at the last step. Each hurdle is small, but together they cost a lot of sales.
This becomes especially clear with paid traffic. If you run Google Ads or Meta Ads, you pay for every click. A landing page that matches the ad better lowers the cost per lead without touching the campaign.
A/B testing: when it makes sense
In an A/B test, some visitors see the current page and others see a changed version. You then compare which variant brings more conversions. It is the cleanest method, but it needs enough visitors and conversions within a reasonable time. Otherwise the result is just chance.
On smaller websites I take a different approach. I implement improvements based on the analysis and on proven usability principles, then compare the numbers over long enough periods. Clean conversion tracking is the prerequisite for this.
CRO and SEO belong together
SEO makes sure the right people find your site. CRO makes sure they stay and take action. Many measures help both: fast load times from technical SEO, clear content and a good mobile layout. That is why I look at both together.
