Without tracking, every decision is a guess
Many websites measure visitors but not what actually matters. You see clicks and pageviews, yet you do not know where your customers come from. Ad budget goes into campaigns nobody can evaluate. And the automated bidding in Google and Meta learns from wrong or missing signals.
Contact forms, booked appointments and email clicks, tracked as clear goals
Clicks on your phone number and calls from ads, broken down by source
Orders with value and product, so you evaluate revenue instead of clicks
My conversion tracking services
I set up tracking so your website, analytics and ad accounts speak the same language. These are the areas I cover.
Google Analytics 4
I create the right events, mark the important ones as key events, and build reports that answer your questions. I filter out internal traffic and spam so the data holds up.
Google Tag Manager
All tags run through one tidy container with clear names, triggers and variables. New goals can be added later without a developer, and anyone can see what fires and when.
Google Ads conversions
I set up conversion actions in Google Ads, configure values and counting correctly, and enable enhanced conversions if you want them. That gives Smart Bidding the signals it needs to optimize.
Meta Pixel and Conversions API
For Facebook and Instagram I install the Meta Pixel and add the Conversions API where it makes sense. Deduplication makes sure Meta counts each conversion only once.
How I set up your tracking
A fixed five-step process. The result is a setup you understand and that still works after the next website update.
Define goals
We clarify which actions matter for your business. A purchase is different from an inquiry, and a phone call is worth more than a click on the imprint. The outcome is a short measurement plan.
Review what exists
I look at what is already there: old code in the page source, duplicate tags, orphaned conversion actions, the cookie banner. Often the problem is not missing tracking but tracking that runs twice.
Consent and Consent Mode
I connect your cookie banner to Tag Manager and Google Consent Mode. Tags then fire only as far as the visitor allowed. This is the basis of a GDPR-ready setup.
Implementation
I create events, triggers and conversion actions and link GA4 with Google Ads and Search Console. For Meta I set up the pixel and, if needed, the Conversions API.
Test and document
I trigger every conversion myself and check that it arrives in each system. You get short documentation of which goal is tracked where and how to check it yourself.
What else I check
Tracking is only done when the numbers are right. These points are part of the job for me.
Forms and thank-you pages
Many forms have no thank-you page or submit data in the background. I pick a trigger that fires only on a successful submission.
Ecommerce data
For online stores I pass order value, products and transaction ID to GA4 and the ad platforms. The ID prevents a reloaded order confirmation from counting twice.
Call tracking
I track clicks on phone numbers on your website. For calls placed directly from Google ads, I set up the matching call conversions in Google Ads.
Reconciling the numbers
I compare conversions in Analytics, Google Ads and Meta with your actual inquiries or orders. If they differ widely, I find out why.
Conversion tracking: the basis for every report
Conversion tracking measures how many website visitors complete a desired action, such as a purchase, an inquiry or a call, and which source they came from. I set up this tracking myself, backed by more than 20 years of experience in online marketing. That includes Google Analytics 4, Google Tag Manager, Google Ads conversions and the Meta Pixel.
Why does conversion tracking matter so much for paid ads?
Ad platforms like Google Ads and Meta set their bids based on the conversions reported to them. If those signals are missing or wrong, the platform optimizes for the wrong thing, and your budget pays for clicks instead of customers.
What happens when tracking measures the wrong thing?
A common mistake is double counting. If the Google Ads tag is hard-coded in the page source and also added in Tag Manager, every inquiry reports two conversions. The campaign looks better than it is. The opposite happens just as often: a form gets rebuilt, the trigger stops firing, and no conversions have come in for weeks. Without regular checks, neither problem gets noticed.
That is why a tracking check is often my first step before I take over a campaign. If you run Google Ads or Meta Ads, you should know whether the reported numbers match your real inquiries.
GDPR and Consent Mode
In the EU, many tracking tags may only set cookies after the visitor gives consent. Google Consent Mode lets Google tags know the visitor's consent status and behave accordingly. For advertisers in the European Economic Area, Google requires this status to be passed along if features like remarketing are to be used.
What matters is the whole chain. The cookie banner has to pass the decision on to Tag Manager, and every tag has to check for the right consent. I test this chain from start to finish. The legal review of your privacy policy remains a job for your data protection officer or lawyer.
Tracking as the basis for more conversions
Clean data shows where visitors drop off and which pages bring in leads. That is exactly where conversion rate optimization starts. Only with reliable tracking can you tell whether a change to a form or landing page actually made a difference.
It pays off for SEO as well. When you know which organic pages bring customers, you spend your time on the right content. And if tracking scripts slow the site down, I take care of load times as part of technical SEO.
